Could the UFC shockingly cross-promote a super-fight between Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou with the PFL? A notable name inside the industry believes the promotion might get an offer to do the fight that they can’t refuse.

Just a few years ago it seemed like the UFC was on the cusp of making a blockbuster fight between promotion GOAT Jon Jones and heavyweight superstar Francis Ngannou. However, negotiations never got across the finish line and both sides ended up blaming the other.

Ngannou would go on to win the UFC heavyweight crown and defend it once before leaving the company over issues about his pay rate. A year later Jones would make his long-awaited return to the Octagon to win the belt in his heavyweight debut. Despite Ngannou now being a PFL fighter, a clash between the two is something fight fans still crave.

Cross-promotion has been a rarity for the UFC, and working with direct rivals the PFL would seem like a non-starter. However, UFC voice and uber-popular podcaster Joe Rogan claims that may no longer be the case.

Jon Jones record: 27-1 (10 knockouts, 7 submissions)

Joe Rogan claims Saudi money could make impossible Jon Jones vs. Francis Ngannou fight a reality

During a recent edition of his “ Joe Rogan Experience ” podcast, Rogan surprisingly suggested “Da͏n͏͏͏a [White] i͏s not ͏o͏pp͏o͏sed t͏o” the dream fight. Then explained how what once seemed like an impossibility could quickly become a reality due to the absurd wealth of the Saudi Arabian government.

“Apparently the UFC might be open to it because the Saudis throw around so much money,” he said (h/t Essentially Sports ).

The Saudi Public Investment Fund has made huge inroads into Western sports and owns a portion of the PFL. The PIF has also thrown huge sums of money at superstar boxers like Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua to have some of their recent fights in The Kingdom.

Sheik Turki Alalshikh has become a huge promoter in boxing and is behind some of the biggest fights in the sport happening in Saudi Arabia, including Tyson Fury vs. Oleksandr Usyk earlier this year. He is trying to turn the country into the fight capital of the East. The UFC also has another event planned for Saudi Arabia later this year.
