    Deteriorating wall closes Sprakers Hill Road

    ROOT, N.Y. ( NEWS10 ) — The Montgomery County Department of Public Works (DPW) announced the immediate closure of Sprakers Hill Road between State Routes 162 and 5 in the town of Root. The road will be closed to all traffic until further notice while crews assess a nearby deteriorating retaining wall.

    According to the DPW, anyone living south of Monk Road will need to access their home using State Route 162. The closure will be enforced by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

    Drivers are advised to follow the detour posted in the area. Anyone with questions is asked to contact the DPW directly at (518)853-3814 .
