Prince William ’s annual earnings have just been unveiled, and they’re pretty mind-blowing!

When King Charles ascended the throne in 2022, William, now 42, inherited the Duchy of Cornwall estate and the title of Duke of Cornwall. Thanks to this, he raked in a cool $30.4 million from his first full year’s income. People magazine spilled the details which were published in the Duchy of Cornwall ’s Integrated Annual Report, on Wednesday, July 24. This massive sum covers the 2023-2024 financial year and includes all the “official, charitable, and private expenses of Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their three kids.”

So, what’s the deal with this income? As the heir to the British throne, Prince William doesn’t get a typical salary or paycheck. Instead, he’s entitled to the surplus profits from the Duchy of Cornwall estate. This estate, established way back in 1337 by King Edward III, was designed to provide funds for the heir. It’s a massive property, spanning 130,000 acres across 23 counties in England (mostly in the southwest), and it’s valued at over $1 billion.

Now, even though this setup isn’t your usual 9-to-5, William still has to pay taxes. And it’s worth noting that he has quite a few new royal duties to attend to as well these days. Per the outlet, Prince William, a die-hard football fan , is now the patron of The Football Association, a role his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, used to hold. He’s been the president of the FA since 2006, but this new title reflects his senior status as Prince of Wales.

On top of that, the future king is taking on new patronages with the Welsh Guards Charity and the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Association. He’s also becoming the president of the Victoria Cross and George Cross Association and will transition from president to patron of Fields in Trust.

Speaking of jobs, Prince William and Kate Middleton are hiring. The duo are on the hunt for a new assistant private secretary at Kensington Palace, and yep, it’s a big deal. According to the job description, this person will be in charge of planning and delivering most of the couple’s public events in Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. They’ll also help shape the Household’s strategy to make the biggest impact across the UK, especially in Wales.

They need someone who’s got top-notch communication and organizational skills. Oh, and a bonus skill that neither Will nor Kate have: speaking Welsh!

Busy times ahead for the prince and princess.
