Missing ‘jeeper’ found near Hell Hole Reservoir, heading to hospital

(FOX40.COM) — After missing for several days, Warren Elliot has been located near Hell Hole Reservoir, according to the Foresthill Fire Protection District.

Elliot went missing along the Rubicon Trail in Placer County on Friday while conducting trail maintenance with a group of off-road drivers ahead of the Jeep Jamboree.

Hell Hole Reservoir is located in a remote area west of Lake Tahoe and about 50 miles south of Soda Springs.

He had last been seen walking away from the group when he was reported missing.

The fire protection district said he will be flown out of the area to a landing zone where he will then be taken to an area hospital for further treatment.

Over the six days hundreds of searchers from across the region have been navigating the rough and remote terrain of the Sierra Nevada.

The California and Nevada Army National Guard provided Blackhawk helicopters to lift searchers into difficult to access areas.

Off-road vehicles and several K9 search teams were also brought in to improve the range and capabilities of the search.
