Per Deadline , Presumed Innocent has become Apple TV+’s most viewed drama series of all time, so it makes sense that the streamer (and viewers) want more! So when can fans expect new episodes of the popular legal drama?

With such a recent renewal and so little known about Presumed Innocent Season 2 it’s hard to predict exactly when another season will premiere on Apple TV+, but if production kicks off in a timely fashion the series could hopefully return in 2025. As Deadline reported, “there are no details about Season 2 beyond the fact that it ‘will unfold around a suspenseful, brand new case.'” Whether or not that case will be led by Gyllenhaal’s Rusty Sabich or feature Season 1 characters, we still don’t know. Based on the ending of Season 1, however, we do know that Rusty was found innocent of Carolyn’s murder — though he’ll forever be haunted by his loss and the truth behind her death.

What you really need to know ahead of Season 2, however, is that after Rusty was found not guilty he accused his wife Barbara of murdering Carolyn and revealed that he returned to her house the night she died, found her dead, and tied her up in a way that resembled Liam Reynolds’ past victim. Why? Because he thought he it would help protect his family. Turns out, it did! But his wife wasn’t the killer…his daughter was.

That’s right! Much to the shock and horror of Rusty and Barbara, their daughter Jaden admitted that she was worried her dad would be convicted after his testimony, so she drove her mom’s car to Tommy’s house and planted the fire poker. She explained that she went to Carolyn’s house to confront her the night of her murder and told her to stay away from the family. When Carolyn suggested that Rusty was the one who wouldn’t leave her alone and revealed she was happy to step back but that she was pregnant with his child, Jaden snapped, grabbed the fire poker, and attacked Carolyn. “I was driving home and I thought it was just a dream,” Jaden said. “It wasn’t, and you guys went to breakfast. I said I wasn’t feeling well and cleaned car and buried the poker.”

As Barbara broke down, Rusty told his girls they’d never speak of this again, it was a form of self-defense, and it was put into motion by him. He hugged Jaden and they sobbed into each other’s arms. Then Presumed Innocent fast forwarded to better days. We saw Raymond happily retired and gardening with his wife. Tommy and his cat were happily watching a game on television. And the Sabich family gathered around the table for a Thanksgiving feast. In time, they resumed living, laughing, and loving, but before the end credits rolled, Barbara and Rusty shared a look that said, “We’re gonna make it, but this is FUCKED up.” Another chapter of Presumed Innocent — one that strayed from the original story, which found Barbara guilty of murder — closed. But thankfully, we haven’t seen the last of the series just yet.
