Sometimes, a dip in the pool on a sunny summer day just isn't enough. And when friends aren't available to hang out, you have to get creative and come up with new ways to entertain yourself. Such is the case with a Golden Retriever named Bodie who found the perfect way to pass the time alone in the pool.

The funny TikTok video shared by @goldenbodiee shows the clever way Bodie keeps himself busy—by playing with the pool filter! Take a look!

In the video captioned, "This is what keeps him entertained in the pool," Bodie is focused on the pool filter as he plays with his tennis ball. He pushes the ball into the filter and waits on it to blow back out, which is honestly pretty genius. The minute-long video sums up what summer is all about—fun in the sun on your own terms!

Though this popular pup has more than 16,000 followers, this video shows exactly why. He's a total goofball in the best way!

"I just love him so much. He literally makes my sad days happy," one person wrote. "He’s doing some logical thinking there," another joked. "Bodie living the life!" another said, and they're right! Bodie's doing big brain things and we're here for it!

    Pool Safety For Water Dogs

A lot of dogs love the excitement of playing in the pool, but Animal Emergency & Referral Center of Minnesota says there are five pool dangers you can prevent.

First, make sure your dog is trained to enter, exit, and be in a pool. They should have a life jacket in case of falling in, and your undivided supervision. Accidental drownings happen far too often and can be prevented. A pool alarm, gates, and covers can help, too.

Make sure to provide fresh water outside of the pool so your dog doesn't drink the pool water and possibly suffer from water intoxication, which can be fatal when too much is consumed diluting the sodium levels in the blood.

Keep up with pool maintenance to keep deadly bacteria like E. Coli out of the water. It can be transmitted from fecal matter on their rear end! This includes making sure the pool filter is working properly (Bodie can confirm!) and cleaning the pool after your dog's use.

To keep your pups from having irritated skin, hose them off or bathe them after each pool session and consult a vet if irritation doesn't go away.

Lastly, store pool chemicals safely, away from where your dog can get to them. There are plenty of ways to keep your pet cool on a hot day , but most fun your dog can have in the pool, is the safe way. Take Bodie's word for it!
