Who says dogs and ducks can't be friends? One Pit Bull Terrier has found joy in two little ducklings having a dip in the pool and it's so precious!

On July 22, 2024, Brittany ( @cowgirl.brit ) shared an adorable TikTok video showing her sweet Pit Bull Terrier entranced with baby ducklings relaxing in the water. Take a look at their pure interaction!

"But aren’t they so cute!" the caption reads. In the adorable 36-second clip, the gentle pup investigates the small, plastic swimming pool two little duckling are floating in. He's not pushy or too direct, but definitely curious! With a couple of nose boops, the Pit Bull looks as though he's trying to figure out what int he world these things are. At one point, they splash him and he appears scared, jumping back from them while they go on swimmingly without a care in the world.

It's a video that really tugs on the heartstrings and many agree.

"I love that they are totally unconcerned with the giant beast that could gobble them in one gulp if he wasn't such a sweet baby himself," one persona said. "He looks sooo confused and interested. Sooó cute," another wrote. "Someone has 2 new pool buddies," another added.

By the looks of it, we think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

    Do Ducklings Need Swimming Pools?

Though not all dogs would have the same reaction to ducklings, this is one pup who seems to respect their presence. Watching them swim sure is interesting, but do baby ducklings actually need a body of water to get. their exercise? Cornell University School of Veterinary Medicine says in terms of basic duck care , water for swimming isn't essential, but but "can be beneficial in areas where temperatures are high."

However, here are a few things they do need, according to Cornell:

    • Protection from extremes in weather conditions and predators.

    • A clean, dry sheltered area. Yes, they spend time outdoors and in water, but they still need dry sheltered area where they can retreat, rest, clean and preen their feathers. This allows them to waterproof their plumage, which protects their skin from injury and helps keep their body warm.

    • Clean drinking water.

    • A good, nutritious diet.

    • Plenty of light stimulation.

    • Protection from disease.

Whether the ducklings needed a pool or not is moot. They're serving unparalleled entertainment for an adorable pup, and that's a good enough reason to hav one!
