CM Punk stunned the pro wrestling world when he returned to WWE at last November’s Survivor Series, and while he has been sidelined from the ring since January due to injury, he remains a massive star. And now it has been reported by Ibou of WrestlePurists that the 45-year-old is actually trying to get his current contract restructured due to wanting more money and additional years added. Additionally, it was noted that he sees himself replacing Shawn Michaels in the long term and running NXT.

“I can tell you right now that he is in the process of trying to get his deal restructured from a money and years standpoint. Punk’s legitimate stance right now is if all goes well I will never leave. That’s his legitimate standpoint. He wants to be here forever is the actual word he used. Basically, he wants this to work out, he wants to get paid, and then he wants when it’s time to slow it down, to slow it down and just run NXT.”

Following Punk’s AEW firing last September, it appeared his time in mainstream pro wrestling was over. This is because he famously departed WWE on terrible terms almost a decade earlier and declared he would never work for the company again. Still, with big money to be made, Punk and WWE managed to put their differences aside and agreed to work together for both of their benefits.
