New York Jets ' head coach Robert Saleh addressed reporters for the first time this summer on Wednesday in Florham Park, and, naturally, training camp holdout Haason Reddick was the subject of multiple questions.

After being traded from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Jets in late March, Reddick did not participate in voluntary OTAs and failed to show up for mandatory June minicamp. Apparently seeking a fat new contract, the accomplished edge rusher has not yet reported to training camp and is subjected to a daily $50K fine per Çollective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) rules.

"It is what it is. That's the business part of it. Just have 89 others guys that we gotta prepare," said Saleh following the first official training camp practice .

There's no knowing how long Reddick's holdout may last as media reports claim that the Jets will not negotiate until the player arrives in Florham Park. In the meantime, Saleh suggested that the Eagles' 2022 and 2023 sacks leader will adequately prepping for the season ahead.

"He's a veteran. He's been with multiple teams. He's played multiple positions. He's had success multiple different ways. At this point in his career, I'm sure he knows exactly what he needs to do to prepare himself to play football. I'm not overly concerned," said Saleh.

Instead of focusing on the absent Reddick, Saleh highlighted the opportunities that the situation creates for others on the defensive line.

"There's a bunch of guys on this team that are gonna get reps that they would not have necessarily gotten with him being here. I see more of an opportunity for guys to really work their craft and find ways to get better and force their way onto the football field," said Saleh.
