Let’s make some good trouble, Perry Farrell pierces through Eric Avery’s heavy bass on “Imminent Redemption, before more of the pieces fall into place—Let’s call in the drummer. “Imminent Redemption” is Jane’s Addiction‘s first single featuring original band members Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, bassist Eric Avery, and drummer Stephen Perkins in 34 years.

Recorded at Sweetzwerland Studios in Hollywood, California, “Imminent Redemption” is the first new song featuring all four founding members since the band’s final album, Ritual de lo Habitual in 1990 before their initial break up in 1991.

“It is different this time,” said the band of the song in a statement. “To have everyone back together, releasing new music. It’s time. Welcome to the next chapter of Jane’s Addiction. ‘Imminent Redemption’ is only the beginning.”

The band performed “Imminent Redemption” for the first time when the classic lineup played its first show in 14 years on May 23, 2024, at Bush Hall in London. During the show, the band opened with their 1997 song “Kettle Whistle,” the title track of their 1997 compilation, and played another new song, “True Love.”

In early 2022, Jane’s Addiction was forced to cancel a series of live dates after Navarro contracted COVID-19. Navarro was also forced to sit out the band’s fall 2022 tour with Smashing Pumpkins and was replaced by Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen.

The band’s fall 2022 tour was the first time in more than a decade since Jane’s Addiction toured with their original bassist Avery, who last played with Jane’s Addiction in the 2000s before parting ways with them again in 2010. Former Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam guitarist Josh Klinghoffer replaced Navarro for the band’s extended tour dates in 2023, while he recovered from lasting symptoms of the virus.

After reuniting in 2001 for a show at Coachell, the band released their third album Strays in 2003 with Chris Chaney replacing Avery on bass, followed by The Great Escape Artist a decade later in 2011.

Jane’s Addiction is set to kick off a co-headlining tour in fall 2024 with the recently reformed Love & Rockets, featuring founding members Daniel Ash, David J, and Kevin Haskins, with additional support from CRAWLERS, which will start on August 9 in Las Vegas with stops across the country—and one show in Toronto, Canada on September 19 before wrapping up on September 26 in St. Louis, Missouri.
