Chet Hanks talked about how it wasn't easy growing up with famous parents.

On the Tuesday, July 23, season premiere of MTV's reality show, Surreal Life: Villa of Secret , the actor detailed the experience of growing up in a famous household and how it wasn't something that inspired feelings of awe especially with the way people perceived him. Chet Hanks is the oldest son of Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks as well as actress and singer Rita Wilson. He has three other siblings.

He shares the same parents as younger brother, Truman. His brother Colin and sister Elizabeth Ann are from Tom's first marriage to Samantha Lewes.

"People think that being Tom Hanks' son, like, I would grow up feeling like I was the s---. I'll tell you something about my childhood." Chet explained. "I actually grew up feeling completely f---ing worthless."

But it was not his parents that made it hard for Chet, it was the way people around him would react to that information. Chet shared to his castmates how those people would treat him as if he thought he was better than them, which he didn't think himself. He "just wanted to be friends with everybody and be treated like everybody else."

"But what am I supposed to do? Walk through the doors and be all meek and timid? That was a mind f--- for me to deal with." Chet added: "Cause then if you do walk in through the door and you're like, 'Here I am mother f---er,' it's like, 'Oh look at you arrogant son of a b----'"

The 33-year-old continued: "So I did internalize all that negativity. I'd be like ‘Wow, maybe I am f---ing worthless,' you know what I’m saying? So it was a battle for me mentally and emotionally, just to be able to walk outside, look someone in the eye, say, ’What's up? I'm Chet.'"

Chet had nothing but wonderful things to say about his parents specifically the Forrest Gump star, telling his fellow cast members how "humble" and "low key' his dad is. In a July 19 Interview with US Weekly , the rapper told the outlet how "supportive" his parents were about his decision to join the reality series.

He also praised Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets, saying he had a "great experience" and how "different" the MTV show was from other reality TV shows: “It’s more about personal growth and relationships with people and vulnerability."

Surreal Life: Villa of Secrets follows eight celebrities including Teen Wolf's Tyler Posey and Grammy-winning singer Macy Gray, in a shared living space as they go through a series of challenges that "confront their fears and reveal their deepest secrets."
