A 22-year-old Sedgwick County Jail deputy, who just started in an academy to become an officer, was arrested on suspicion of domestic battery and assault, the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The Wichita man was arrested by Haysville police on Tuesday.

He had been with the department since February as a jail deputy and started the academy on Monday, the sheriff’s office said in a news release, but has now been “suspended from duty, pending the outcome of the criminal case and an internal investigation.”
