Thief nabbed after stealing air conditioning units from PA animal hospital

A man is under arrest after allegedly stealing two air conditioners from a Pennsylvania animal hospital.

Kyle A. Kleintop, 36, of Easton was nabbed after being caught on surveillance camera dismantling two exterior commercial units and loading the pieces in his car during the dead-of-night heist.

The grainy footage posted on social media showed him breaking into HanoverView Animal Hospital in Northampton County and spiriting away the equipment in pieces. The hospital had been about to mark its own Veterinary Assistants Appreciation Week.

“Unfortunately on what was supposed to be a great day to celebrate our staff, we are currently dealing with the fact that early this morning ~4:00 a.m. our two outdoor AC units were dismantled and stolen,” the hospital said, noting that a recent renovation had enabled them to install the security cameras. “Please be extra kind to our staff it is warm in the building and we are working to get new units installed as soon as possible.”

The footage showed the thief walking into the parking lot at 4:07 a.m. and carrying pieces of the units toward the front of the building at 4:28, then leaving to fetch his car and driving into the parking lot 10 minutes later, at 5:21 a.m., to load up.

“By 5:30am he had left,” the hospital said.

Police charged him with six third-degree felonies, three first-degree misdemeanors and other charges connected to the theft.

He was arraigned before District Judge Alicia Rose Zito on felony charges of receiving stolen property and criminal mischief, as well as several lesser offenses, The Morning Call reported. He was being held in Northampton County Prison on $25,000 bail.
