Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan addressed a letter to his Senate opponent, Angela Alsobrooks , on Wednesday, calling for her to reverse "support for cutting off aid to Israel ," among other things.

The letter comes as Hogan attended former Sen. Joe Lieberman's memorial service, where Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke before addressing a joint session of Congress.

"As the Prime Minister of Israel addresses Congress today, I am calling on County Executive Alsobrooks to reverse her support for cutting off aid to Israel, and to join me in urging the Senate to act against antisemitism and to protect Maryland and America’s Jewish community," Hogan wrote in a social media post about the letter.

"At this critical hour, Maryland and America’s Jewish community need leaders who will stand with them regardless of the political winds," he said. "This is not about the differences between the right and the left—it is about the difference between right and wrong."

Hogan cited past reporting from a Washington Post Maryland Democratic Senate primary Q&A in which Alsobrooks said: "I do not support an invasion of Rafah and agree with President Biden if Netanyahu does not change course, that the U.S. will need to withhold offensive weaponry."

He responded to the quote in the letter, saying, "advocating for such an extreme policy is a dangerous position," and making aid to Israel conditional shows "weakness," and could make it more likely for America to be pulled into war.

Hogan also bashed Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) for choosing to skip Netanyahu's address while praising retiring Sen. Ben Cardin (D-MD) for his attendance.

"It is Sen. Van Hollen who is putting politics first and catering to the far left," Hogan posted on X. "... I am glad Sen. Cardin will attend the Prime Minister’s address, and look forward to continuing his legacy of being a pro-Israel champion in the Senate."

The former Maryland governor has often addressed open letters to Alsobrooks, once calling on her to reverse her support of new taxes and fees in the state. Alsobrooks is considered the favorite to win in deep-blue Maryland.

The Washington Examiner reached out to the Hogan and Alsobrooks campaigns but did not receive a response.
