ANDERSON COUNTY., S.C. (WSPA) – Music lovers are in for a treat this weekend.

For the first time ever, the Rock The Country Music Festival featuring several big-name artists will be on the grounds of the Anderson Sports & Entertainment Center.

The festival will run Friday and Saturday.

Organizers said Anderson is the seventh and final town hosting the Rock The Country.

Artists like Kid Rock, Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert and more will perform in front of a crowd of at least 25,000.

“The concert itself starts at 4 p.m. each day. It’ll start off with a DJ just playing some music while people are still coming in and then from there it’ll start in with the different artists all the way up to the headliners about 9 o’clock or so,” said Adrienne Cole, general manager of the Anderson Civic Center.

People are already at the Civic Center staying in their RV campers ready for the big day. This includes Melissa Powell who said she can’t wait.

“I’m super excited. I think this is a great thing for our community. I’m so glad that Anderson was chosen to put this event on. It is just so, so exciting for all of us to be able to get together, have fun and just rock the country,” said Powell.

“I hope that this will bring Anderson together as a community and everybody will be able to just come in, fellowship, have a great time and just kind of just enjoy themselves and just rock it out,” said Powell.

The county said there will be tons of security checking bags, no outside drinks will be allowed in but there will be food and drinks available for purchase inside the festival.

“This right here puts heads in beds, as we say. This puts people in our restaurants, this puts people in our local businesses. We’ve already got a $19.2 million study with economic impact in Anderson County just from this event alone and it could go up,” said Cole.

Organizers said Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Camson Road and Whitehall Road will be closed starting Friday.

“I just hope everybody will come out, have a great time, be safe, be responsible and do everything that they’ve been asked to do. Security has been great just coming in, making sure everybody stays safe for the event, which I think is amazing,” said Powell.
