Some dogs are born to swim, and English Labradors are one of them. Not only do they possess the physical attributes that help them paddle through the water effortlessly, but they also instinctively understand what they are supposed to do.

One little English Lab puppy is a perfect example. She fearlessly took to the water at only a few months old without a moment of hesitation. Witness her natural talent in a video shared on July 23:

Oh, Miss Monday (@ happiestlabrador ), it didn’t take you long to figure out that swimming is fun! Although she may still be a tiny baby, she knew what to do when her paws hit the water. Her parents revealed they made sure she understood how to get back to shore, but because she loves to be with her people, she headed back into the water several times on her own. This tiny pup loves to play with her human siblings, and this feeling appears to be mutual. After splashing around for a bit, she also discovered the joy of playing with the beach sand. This gorgeous girl must have slept well that night!

The Difference Between American vs. English Labs

American Labrador Retrievers tend to have longer legs, a narrower body, a somewhat curved tail, and a sleek appearance. In contrast, English Labradors have a stockier build, a round head, a thick and straight tail, and a denser coat. Both dogs are intelligent and easy to train, but American Labs are often more energetic and driven. This makes them well-suited for hunting and agility. The English Labrador is known for being more easy-going and mellow, making them ideal family and therapy dogs . Both types of Labs have webbed feet and water-resistant coats, helping them to become incredible swimmers .

People were left in awe of her incredible aquatic abilities. Viewer @barbara_l_eggers responded, “Here you can see the majestic Labrador seal in its natural environment.” Ha! There’s some truth to that because she’s undoubtedly a natural-born swimmer. Viewer @shouldknowbtr remarked, “It’s so cute and hilarious how they will swim anywhere but still mope about a bath.” That’s the truth! Another person shared, “My Lab might be broken then because if his feet don’t touch the bottom, he won’t go any further, lol.” Every dog is an individual, and although most Labs might like the water, there will always be some that don’t.

No matter what type of puppy you have, introducing them to new experiences at a young age can help them become more confident as they grow. Even if they don’t choose to swim, exciting adventures can always help to tire them out.
