The new mother of two held Sienna while she explained in a video on her Instagram story on Wednesday afternoon that she’d originally planned to be induced on July 17. Summer explained Jon was playing shows between July 17 and July 24. She was hoping to bump up her induction date by one day to have at least 24 hours with Jon and the baby before the shows, but was unable to plan being induced that early without a medical reason, she said. Still, Summer “just knew” her baby would arrive early.
On Monday, July 15, Summer said she felt contractions starting around 3 p.m. By 11 p.m. on July 15, she knew she had to go to the hospital. Sienna was born just over 12 hours later, at 11:47 .m. on July 16. That morning, Jon posted two selfies with his wife to show that they’d made a “ surprise trip to the hospital ” with Baby No. 2 on the way.
“I finally have a minute to chat. Figured I’d update you guys on my birth story since today is technically Sienna’s actual due date. She came eight or nine days early. Originally, we had scheduled for an induction on the 17th because Jon had shows starting the night of the 17th for five nights straight, and I didn’t want to have to have him cancel a show and risk missing her birth if she came between the 17th and 24th. And I know so many of you guys that have been to his shows over the last week were so grateful that he was still able to perform, and very appreciative for letting me let him go. But everything worked out perfect. I had asked my doctor if I could be induced on the 16th because I was really hoping to have at least 24 hours of Jon, you know, with her, assuming that she came out on time.
“But you can only be induced like a week prior to your due date, legally, I guess, unless you have a medical reason for it. So, anyways, they couldn’t do the 16th. But I just knew she was gonna come early. I just had a feeling, and so, anyways, Monday was (July 15) around 3 p.m., I started having contractions at home on the couch, and I was like, ‘OK,’ and by 11 p.m., they were timed to where it was like a minute long every five minutes, and then some in between, like little ones. So, I was like, ‘sh*t.’ So, I went to the hospital and they admitted me pretty much right away because I went from a one to a three just within that first hour, dilation-wise. And then by 4 a.m., I was at like a five, five (or) six, and then had her at 11:47. And two pushes. Presley was about five, and Sienna was two, so she was ready.
I got the epidural around, I think I was probably six centimeters dilated, and then literally I told the nurses around like 11:30, I was like, ‘she’s there.’ She is like, you can’t feel the pain, but I could still feel everything but not like — I had turned my epidural down, and then around that time I was like, ‘can we crank that up? Because she’s coming.’ and they’re like, ‘well, let’s check you, and she was like, ‘OK, I see a head.’ So, they got the doctor and literally two pushes, so I will credit that to a lot of pelvic floor workout stuff. …It was amazing, and we were gone the next day by 2.”
