SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Vehicle inspections in Massachusetts resumed on Wednesday following the global outage which was exciting news for the many businesses that rely on performing this essential service.

Gary Leyden of Gary’s Auto Repair was missing out on 30-40 inspections each day he had to turn away customers, which means he lost over 200 customers while his machines were down.

His inspectors missed out on work, the business missed out on income, and customers were driving around with invalid stickers. So it was a sigh of relief when they came in on Wednesday morning and found out the system was finally working and no longer offline.

Leyden told 22News that he had a long line as soon as they opened up their doors at 8 a.m. this morning and they plan on making adjustments to accommodate everyone.

“We already had a lined up to the corner there this likening we’re just hoping that it’s a good thing,” said Leyden. “Now we’re going to try to take care of as many people as we can. And we’re going to try to adjust our hours a little bit try to do them a little longer and we’re hoping to do a big day of it. A couple of guys have been double-teaming at times it’s what we’re trying to do.”

People who fail their inspections have a little bit of extra time to get re-inspected. According to the RMV, anyone whose re-inspection date expired between July 19th and the 31st will have until August 10th to get that inspection done.
