Chris Hemsworth has been tapped to star in a new sci-fi mystery movie called The Corsair Code.

Hemsworth is also producing the movie, which is based on a short story by Jonathan Tropper, alongside Ben Grayson for Wild State production company.

What else do we know about The Corsair Code?

Per Deadline, The Corsair Code has been officially acquired by Apple Original Films following a “spirited auction.” Plot details remain under wraps at this time, though it’s described as a “high-octane, sci-fi mystery adventure.”

Tropper is writing the screenplay for the movie. He additionally serves as a producer.

Best known for playing Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Hemsworth recently starred as the villainous Dementus in George Miller’s Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. He’s also voicing Orion Pax/Optimus Prime in Transformers One, which releases in United States theaters on September 20, 2024. The voice cast of the movie further includes Brian Tyree Henry as D-16/Megatron, Scarlett Johansson as Elita, Keegan-Michael Key as B-127/Bumblebee, Jon Hamm as Sentinel Prime, Laurence Fishburne as Alpha Trion, and Steve Buscemi.

Hemsworth’s filmography also includes 2009’s Star Trek, 2012’s The Cabin in the Woods, 2013’s Rush, 2015’s Blackhat, 2016’s Ghostbusters, 2018’s Bad Times at the El Royale, 2019’s Men in Black: International, 2020’s Extraction, and 2022’s Spiderhead.

Tropper, meanwhile, co-created the Cinemax television series Banshee with David Schickler, while he was also the creator and showrunner on Warrior. He wrote several episodes of Apple TV+’s See with Jason Momoa and is now working on a new Apple series titled Your Friends and Neighbors.

He wrote the screenplays for 2014’s This Is Where I Leave You, 2017’s Kodachrome, and 2022’s The Adam Project, the latter of which he worked on with T.S. Nowlin, Jennifer Flackett, and Mark Levin.
