We all have that one mirror or picture frame that’s seen better days. It’s not ugly, but it just doesn’t fit with your current decor. What if we told you there’s a simple, fun way to give it new life? TikTok creator Shayna Alnwick (@TheFlippedPiece) recently shared a DIY hack that’s both easy and budget-friendly, and it’s perfect for sprucing up those old frames.

Grab that old mirror you’ve been thinking about tossing. Maybe it’s a little outdated or just doesn’t match your current style. With this hack, you can transform it into a statement piece that reflects your personality.

First, carefully remove the backing and the mirror from the frame. This might involve unscrewing some brads or screws, so you’ll need a screwdriver for this step. Make sure you set the mirror and backing aside in a safe spot. Now you’re left with the frame, ready for its makeover.

Next, it’s time to pick out some fabulous fabric. This is where you can really get creative. Choose something bold and colorful, or go for a more subtle pattern—whatever suits your fancy! Once you’ve got your fabric, spray the frame with tacky spray. This is essentially a spray-on glue that will help the fabric adhere to the frame. Give it a minute or two to become tacky, then lay your fabric over the frame, making sure it’s fully covered with some extra hanging off each side.

Now, for the slightly tricky part. Use scissors to cut the fabric down the middle of the frame, then up into the corners. This will allow you to pull the fabric tight on the inside of the frame. Take your time to smooth out any wrinkles. You don’t need to worry about trimming the excess fabric just yet.

Once the fabric is neatly in place, you can reattach the mirror and backing. Use some more sticky tack to secure any extra fabric to the back of the frame. And voilà! You now have a gorgeous new mirror that’s completely customized to your taste.
