The "Bert Kreischer discovers great music" train rolls on. A few months ago The Machine went live on Instagram to listen to some music and had a come to Jesus country music moment hearing Tyler Childers and Colter Wall for the first time. Ever since then he's stayed committed to an off-hand line he said that really struck me:
“I don’t want to die cause I want to find more cool music” And find more cool music he did. The Red Clay Strays have been the alley cats of the country music scene for a few years now, working their way up and paying dues but have found a rabid fanbase of late that's only going to explode further with the release of their sophomore album this Friday. Titled Made By These Moments , it's already shaping up to be fantastic judging by the singles dropped in the lead up, including "Wanna Be Loved" and "Drowning" , but now we get to hear a stripped back version of the title-track thanks to Bert Kreischer. After hopping on stage
with the boys from Alabama at Zanies to sing "Ring of Fire," Bert invited the band onto his podcast and the episode just released today. I haven't gotten a chance to listen to the whole thing yet but you can bet that as soon as I'm done typing I'll be diving in. I did, however, skip ahead to the end where they play some songs, including the unreleased title track "Made By These Moments," and let me tell you, it's a gorgeous song. Take a look at some of these lyrics: I've had love And I've had heartbreak I've walked tall and proud And fallen on my face I've seen babies grow And loved ones pass away I've felt the sense of pride And overwhelming shame
There's joys and trials as we walk down every mile I've been holding onto something This all can't be for nothing We're all made by these moments I've been hanging on and hoping That nothing's ever broken We're all made by these moments As he's been known to do a time or two, Bert broke down in tears listening to this song, and as much as I'd love to make a joke about it I just can't because I felt the tears welling up in my own eyes. I can't wait for Friday to get this whole Red Clay Strays album. Here's a small clip of their performance. https://twitter.com/bertkreischer/status/1816193262136484122 And here's the entire podcast. "Made By These Moments" starts at the 1:36:50 mark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_RZdaZyrAc
