Coco Gauff's star continues to rise. The 20-year-old tennis sensation was voted by her fellow countrymen as Team USA's female flagbearer for the upcoming Paris Olympics. She will join the selected male flagbearer, Los Angeles Lakers icon LeBron James.

Gauff, currently ranked as the No. 2 overall player in the world, thanked her teammates for the esteemed honor in a heartwarming message on Twitter.

"I just want to say thank you to my fellow Team USA Olympians/athletes for voting and choosing me for this incredible honor to be the flag bearer for the opening ceremony," she said. "Thank you so much. I am incredibly honored."

Gauff is set to make her Olympic debut in Paris despite initially being selected by Team USA to compete in the 2020 Games as a 17-year-old. She tested positive for COVID-19 leading up to the festivities in Tokyo, though, ultimately missing her chance to become the second-youngest American tennis player to compete on the Olympic stage.

Joining last year's U.S. Open Champion on the women's side for Team USA at the Olympics are Danielle Collins, Desirae Krawczyk, Emma Navarro, and Jessica Pegula.
