    Tornado Warning canceled in Halifax, Pittsylvania Counties

    UPDATE 6:45 P.M. HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR )– The National Weather Service reports the Tornado warning has been canceled in Halifax and Pittsylvania Counties.

    According to NWS, although the tornado threat has diminished, large hail and damaging winds remain likely and a Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect in the area.



    HALIFAX COUNTY, Va. ( WFXR )– The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Warning for residents of Halifax and Pittsylvania County.

    According to the NWS, the tornado warning is for residents of East Central Pittsylvania County and Central Halifax County. It also lists these impacted locations:

    • South Boston
    • Halifax
    • Nathalie
    • Scottsburg
    • Leda
    • Crystal Hill
    • Mt. Laurel
    Pinpoint Weather: More storms, relief on the way

    The NWS advises residents in these areas to move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building and to avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter and protect yourself from flying debris.

    The NWS says the Tornado Warning is in effect until 6:45 p.m.
