WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Women in Sedgwick County have a new resource to help them through the process of childbirth.

Starting back in May, the Sedgwick County Health Department has been hosting monthly workshops to offer helpful tips and advice to expecting mothers.

Nurses from Wesley Birth Care Center are present during every meeting, which is held on the last Wednesday of every month.

On July 24, nurses will cover the signs of a high-risk pregnancy. Other topics that the program offers include creating a birth plan and preparing for breastfeeding.

The classes, as well as a meal and childcare, are all provided at no cost.

The meetings take place every month inside the health department building at 1900 E. 9th St. They begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 7 p.m.
