Following the Princess of Wales’ ( formerly known as Kate Middleton ) announcement that she’s undergoing preventive chemotherapy for cancer, royal watchers have been hoping that her diagnosis might bring about a reconciliation with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle .

However, as the months have gone by, there’s been report after report that it won’t happen since the couples are still not on speaking terms. Then, recently, rumblings came out of the Sussexes’ camp that the duke and duchess want to end the feud and get in contact with the princess. But now, we’re hearing that William and Kate had already offered Meghan and Harry an “olive branch.”

“Meghan’s desperate to come across as the bigger person and end this feud between them — appearing like some sort of royal savior could only do her image good,” a source told Closer per Express . “And, despite all their bad blood, her heart does go out to Kate — she can only imagine how hard this situation must be for her. Meghan has made it clear she’d love nothing more than to move past all the nonsense and find a way towards healing for everyone’s sake. She’s ready to let the anger and bitterness go.”

Meanwhile, another insider who spoke to Heat Magazine claimed that after seeing Kate at Wimbledon, Harry decided to send his sister-in-law a note in order to try and repair their estranged relationship.

“Harry was watching Wimbledon and was thrilled to see Kate looking so radiant. He sent her a note to congratulate her and let her know how happy he was to see her out,” the insider said. “He’s just so grateful that she’s on the mend and able to get back to her duties after taking time off — as is Meghan.”

The source continued: “Even though it’s an awkward situation for all of them, [the Sussexes] think the sooner they can put this all behind them, the better. Harry can’t believe it ever got to this point — he genuinely thought that by now they’d have found a way to reconcile and he hates to think of it continuing.”

But for all the talk coming out of Montecito that the Sussexes want to let bygones be bygones and are hoping William and Kate will want to move forward as well, a royal biographer said that the Waleses had offered them an “olive branch” a while back.

According to Robert Hardman, who authored the book Charles II. New King. New Court. The Inside Story , the prince and princess did offer an “olive branch” to Harry and Meghan following Queen Elizabeth II’s death . Hardman wrote that the royals gathered for a dinner at Buckingham Palace as they waited to receive the late queen’s coffin.

“Inside the palace, all members of the royal family were there to welcome the queen back to royal headquarters for the last time, followed by an informal supper,” Hardman explained per Express . “Afterwards, the Prince and Princess of Wales suggested that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex should attach their car to their police escort for the journey back to Windsor since they were all going the same way. It was only a small gesture and nowhere near any sort of reconciliation. However, the late queen would have approved.”

Three months after Queen Elizabeth’s funera l, the prince and former Suits star’s docuseries Harry & Meghan was released on Netflix, followed by the duke’s tell-all memoir Spare weeks later.
