No one was inside an SUV found Wednesday afternoon in Lake Hennessey, officials confirmed.

Napa County Fire crews, California Highway Patrol and the Napa County Sheriff’s Office responded to the lake, southeast of St. Helena, on the report of a vehicle in the water, CHP-Napa spokesperson Marc Renspurger said.

The county fire water rescue team searched the water but found no one in the submerged Dodge SUV, said Erick Hernandez, Napa County Fire Department deputy fire marshal.

The vehicle was towed from the lake.

Officials don’t know why the SUV was in the water, Hernandez added.

Sage Canyon Road from Silverado Trail to Chiles Pope Valley Road, which covers the entire length the road runs along the lake, was closed from about 1:45 p.m. to just before 3 p.m. as crews responded.
