Twisters star Glen Powell has high praise for his latest blockbuster's soundtrack. The sequel to the classic 1996 film Twister hit theaters last Friday and has done incredibly well at the box office so far. It boasted an $80 million plus opening weekend, and will likely continue to run wild at the movie theaters... until Marvel's
Deadpool and Wolverine premieres later this week. What drew people to see Twisters in the first weekend? Well, the box office draw that actor Glen Powell has right now is undeniable. Pair that with some action-packed tornado sequences and a STACKED country music led soundtrack and you've got yourself a film that rakes in money - especially from moviegoers in the Midwest. I'm not sure Twisters: The Album could have had anymore country music stars included. Leading up to the film's theatrical release, singles were crafted and released by Luke Combs , Jelly Roll, Tyler Childers
, Miranda Lambert, Wyatt Flores & Jake Kohn, Lainey Wilson , Megan Moroney, to name a few. The rest of the soundtrack hit streaming platforms the day the movie dropped, and somehow unveiled even more gems from some of our favorite artists here at Whiskey Riff, including Chris Stapleton, Sam Barber, Red Clay Strays, Dylan Gossett, Tanner Usrey, Noah Taylor, Flatland Cavalry, Charley Crockett, and Tyler Halverson. I know I just hit you with a ton of names, but as crazy as it sounds, there are even more that I haven't mentioned. So when Glen Powell gave the soundtrack for Twisters this title, he wasn't kidding: "When they started telling us some of the names that were on this thing, I was like, 'Okay.' And it just kept going. We called it, 'The Avengers of Country Music.' This is the most impressive album, and we've been listening to it on loop."
Powell's co-star in the movie, Daisy Edgar-Jones, added that one song specifically by Miranda Lambert has really stuck with her: "Oh my God, I can't get 'Ain't In Kansas Anymore' out of my head. It's so good. They're all brilliant." https://twitter.com/twistersalbum/status/1815771586823324112 Someone needs to get a creative photoshop ready with all of these country music stars as the Avengers. A well-edited picture of Luke Combs and Tyler Childers, among others, as superheroes would go CRAZY...
