    USWNT Olympic standings: Where Americans sit in Paris Olympics group play after win

    The U.S. women's national team is set for their first major tournament under new coach Emma Hayes at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games . The USWNT took home bronze in the most recent Olympics in Tokyo and are going for their first gold medal since the 2012 Olympics.

    This year's squad features lots of Olympic experience. Forward Crystal Dunn, midfielder Lindsey Horan, and goalkeeper Alyssa Naeher are all making their third Olympic appearance. The team is notably without Alex Morgan but it's still the No. 5 team in FIFA's world rankings .

    One team ranked ahead of the USWNT - Germany at No. 4 - is their biggest challenge in Group B ahead of the Olympics. Fellow Group B teams Australia and Zambia are ranked No. 12 and No. 64, respectively. Here's how the standings look after the first game of group play:
