The legal battle between Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Alexandra Davis , a woman who alleged to be his biological daughter, has concluded with a settlement reached in a Texas court on Tuesday (July 23), the New York Post reports.

Jones, 81, countersued Davis over a breach of contract of a settlement previously reached with her mother, Cynthia , in 1998, two years after her birth. Judge Robert W. Schroeder III announced that cases for both sides were dropped "with prejudice," meaning permanently dismissed moving forward.

Jones was reportedly scheduled to testify in court, possibly on Tuesday, prior to the settlement being reached.

“I regret that it came to this, and I’m glad that it is resolved to everyone’s satisfaction,” Jones said after Tuesday’s proceedings via NBC Dallas-Fort Worth .

Court records show that Jones paid more than $3 million to Alexandria through trust funds throughout her life, however, publicly denied being her father prior to the lawsuits. A judge had previously upheld a decision that Jones, who has been married to his wife, Eugenia , since 1963, would be required to take a paternity test .

Jones, who purchased the Cowboys in 1989, is scheduled to join the team at training camp in Oxnard, California, ahead of opening press conferences on Saturday (July 27).
