Cloudy and humid in New Jersey; better weather moving in for the weekend

The weather is changing - for the better!! Sunshine, warmth, and low humidity is on the horizon. Today's weather is a gradual improvement of yesterday's weather. We will start to see a clearing this afternoon from the northwest crossing the state to the southeast. The clearing comes from a front that is pushing the humidity and clouds away for today. However, a few showers are likely in South Jersey and parts of central New Jersey as the poor weather gets pushed out. Friday, Saturday and Sunday look exceptional with sunny conditions and warm weather.

WILDFIRE SMOKE

Wildfire smoke from Canada makes a pass over New Jersey today with some haze possible at the surface, reducing visibility later this afternoon. We are not looking at a major decline of visibility, but definitely a haze that can be seen when looking out at a skyline or in the distance. Think of it like a gray tinge to the sky. The front passes as the sun sets tonight, which will create a colorful sky as both the smoky haze and the humidity bounce back vibrant colors of orange, pink, yellows, and maybe red if we are lucky! If you miss the colorful sunset tonight, we will likely have a colorful sunrise tomorrow - although, muted to more of an orange or yellow since we are lacking the moisture/humidity.

Tropics are tamed for now. Dust/sand from the Sahara desert are streaming across the Atlantic Ocean - stinting tropical cyclone development. We are not expected to see any tropical storms or hurricanes for a bit - perhaps not until the end of August. "
