Reason Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck's last-ditch attempt to save marriage 'may not be enough'

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are giving their marriage one last shot, according to reports , but one expert doesn't think it will be enough.

A source has claimed the pair have been busy writing each other love letters in a last ditch attempt to save their relationship. They've been spending a lot of time apart recently as rumors continue to swirl that they're headed for a divorce .

The source explained the idea came about as it's "what made them fall in love in the first place." However, relationship expert Louella Alderson has issued a warning about the move.

Speaking exclusively to The Mirror US, she explained: "Love letters may have initially brought them together, but a lot has happened since then and both Jennifer and Ben have changed as people. While this idea is romantic, it may not be enough to fix the core underlying issues that led to the downfall of their relationship in the first place."

Louella then suggested other ways Ben and J-Lo could work on fixing their marriage issues. "It's important for them to also engage in open and honest communication and address any deep-seated issues and unresolved conflicts before they can truly move forward as a couple," she said.

The expert continued: "This could be through couples therapy or potentially through sitting down and having regular heartfelt conversations with each other. They need to discuss their wants, needs, and expectations for their relationship in the future to see if they are truly aligned."

A source explained that Ben and Jennifer have been taking some time apart "so they can really figure out what it is that they want." Speaking to the Daily Mail , they added: "They were ready to throw in the towel. Divorce papers are done and ready to be filed. But they wanted to give it one last go before walking away from this and are going back to the beginning by writing each other letters."

J-Lo previously shared all of the letters she has been sent by Ben in her film The Greatest Love Story Never Told. However, the source said J-Lo will be choosing a different path if they decide to rekindle their romance.

They said: "This time JLo will definitely not be showing anyone these letters and they are just to stay between her and Ben." In response, Louella told us: "Keeping it to themselves may be a smart move.

"It can allow them to focus on each other and not feel pressured by the public's opinions or expectations. However, Ben missing Jennifer's birthday party and the couple spending their anniversary apart doesn’t bode well for their future. It's clear that they both care deeply for each other and have a strong history as a couple, but whether that’s enough to overcome any obstacles remains to be seen."
