A popular airline that many in Louisiana love to use when traveling is breaking a 50-year tradition when it comes to boarding the plane.

Southwest Airlines announced on Thursday that they are breaking away from the tradition of allowing passengers to sit where they want and will even now offer premium seating.

The reason why the airline says it is breaking away from the 50-year tradition is they have listened to those boarding its planes, and it wants to accommodate its customers better.

Southwest says customers have spoken and they’ve been listening, thus changes are coming to the airline’s boarding procedure.

In addition, Southwest Airlines will also offer redeye starting Feb. 14, 2025, in nonstop markets that include Las Vegas to Baltimore and Orlando; Los Angeles to Baltimore and Nashville; and Phoenix to Baltimore.

For those who travel Southwest there’s more good news, the airline also plans to phase in additional redeye flights over time.
