All eyes are on Simone Biles and the USA Gymnastics team on Thursday as they take center stage for their highly-anticipated podium training day. Unfortunately, the high-profile practice session was mired by a concerning announcement just hours before the event.

USA Gymnastics took to X, formerly Twitter, to announce on Thursday morning that one of their coaches is currently under the weather and will not be able to take part in the podium training.

"Coach Brian Carey is not feeling well today and will miss Women’s Podium Training. He will return to the team soon," read the tweet from USA Gymnastics' X account.

No other details were provided about the current condition of Carey, who is the father and coach of one of Biles' teammates, Jade Carey.

The mystery surrounding this development has left the fans feeling concerned about the well-being of the team in general.

"Hopefully he doesn't pass it around the team," said a fan.

"We need to know what kind of 'not feeling well'. For example, if he js contagious and a gymnast catches what he has, could they could still compete (a la Shawn Johnson beam final 2008 with the flu)?

"Are we talking cold and just quarantining out of precaution or flu, flu?" asked a supporter.

"Istg if he gets Jade sick," read one of the comments.

"Oh no, I was worrying why he wasn't there... Get better soon Brian!" said another.

"Are you able to share whether it’s Covid? Hope he feels better soon!" commented a fan.

At this point, it would be premature to make any assumptions about Carey's condition. Either way, this is still a concern that is worth monitoring.
