National Parents Day celebrates the value of good parenting

Parenting may well be the most important job in the world. Teaching, guiding, listening, cheerleading, comforting, disciplining, and more is a massive undertaking. That’s why, in 1994, Congress passed “The Parents’ Day Resolution,” designating the fourth Sunday of July as a day to recognize and celebrate the importance of parenthood in building a strong and stable society.

National Parents Day may not come with the same fanfare as Mother’s or Father’s Day, and it’s not about gift-giving. Instead, it’s an invitation for parents and kids to spend time together and share in the mutual appreciation of good parenting and how it helps shape the next generation of Americans.

To mark National Parents Day, watch the video at the top to see the moment a boy with hearing loss hears his parents' voices properly for the first time.
