After years of playing local Cardiff blues bars, Welsh singer/songwriter and actor Tomos Eames debuted in 2022 with his Black Ocean EP, introducing his haunting and pastoral style of alt folk. Since then he has been largely quiet, but he is back today with news of his upcoming EP, EDGES, due out later this year. He has also shared the EP’s lead single, “Black On the Other Side,” premiering early with Under the Radar.

Soft Self Portraits is the synthy dream pop outlet of Seattle-based singer/songwriter Cody Wade. The project began in 2016 in a decidedly lo-fi fashion. Wade’s first 6-track demo was recorded in their bedroom with only a loop pedal, cassette deck, synth, and karaoke mic. They released their debut album, Hold Me Up To The Light, in 2017, and the project became a full band before going through a series of lineup changes in the years since and disbanding in 2019.

With guitars, drums, and bass completed for most tracks but vocals for only one or two, the sessions had to go on indefinite pause while Gordon underwent radiation and chemotherapy.
