What Happened To The World Series Champion Texas Rangers?
By harrison hoctor,

The Texas Rangers are struggling this year after winning last season's World Series. They are 17th in the league and 6-4 out of their previous 10 games. What part of the game brought this team from the Champs to the middle of the pack?
Offense
The Rangers bats are not hot right now. Only 4 Rangers players were hitting above .250 before the All-Star break. Josh Smith, Corey Seager, Nathaniel Lowe, and Wyatt Langford. Last season, 10 guys were above .250 and Seager was hitting over .350. Not only have their batting averages dropped but runs and hits also.
Last year the Rangers had put up 531 runs before the All-Star game and were leading the league. This year the Rangers put up only 414 ending in 17th place in the league in runs. Comparably, the Rangers put up 779 hits whereas last year they managed 877 hits.
Defense
Any Rangers fan knows that the bullpen is shaky. Despite the injuries preventing the team from having a consistent rotation, the Rangers pitchers have managed to stay near consistent to last year. Here are the stat lines from this year before the All-Star Game and last year.
This Year: Last Year:
ERA 3.98 4.01
Hits 730 720
Walks 332 257
If anything the bullpen is not to blame, despite what most fans say. The Rangers are just not able to score enough runs to win games.
If the Rangers can find their bats for the rest of the season, they may be able to end the season in a respectable place with hopes for the 2025 season. Playoffs are practically out of the picture for this team.
