    Heading to the McLean County Fair? Here's what you need to know

    Planning to hit the McLean County Fair? Here are some things you may want to know.

    When is the fair?

    The annual McLean County Fair, which bills itself as “the world’s largest county 4-H Show” runs through July 18 at the McLean County Fairgrounds, 1106 Interstate Drive in Bloomington.

    What special events will take place?

    There are special events taking place each day of the fair starting Wednesday with the tractor pull and the Royal Reception and Awards program. Other events include bull riding and barrel racing and the demolition derby.

    Going for a ride at the fair?

    The carnival rides will run from 1-11 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, noon-11 p.m. on Saturday and noon-8 p.m. on Sunday. Unlimited ride wristbands are $30.

    What about admission?

    Regular daily admission for Wednesday-Saturday is $10 for adults (age 13 and older), $6 for kids age 6-12 and free for children age 5 and younger. Sunday’s admission price is $5 for adults, $3 for kids 6-12 and free for children 5 and younger. Multi-day passes are $18 for adults and $12 for kids 6-12.

    The fair runs specials on admission costs each day.

    What does parking cost?

    Parking is available at the fairgrounds is free of charge.

    How long has the McLean County fair been around?

    The origins of the fair date back to to the 1860s The McLean County Fair Association was founded in 1932.

    How large is the fair's 4-H show?

    More than 600 youth (ages 8-18) exhibit over 6,000 projects each year at the fair. This includes photography, visual arts, clothing, foods, woodworking, robotics, public speaking, cattle, sheep, goats, dairy, swine, horses, rabbits and poultry and many other areas of youth development.

    How many people attend the McLean County Fair?

    Fair attendance varies from year to year. Annual attendance is typically 30,000 to 35,000 people.
