Woman's DIY IKEA Coffee Table Is Simply a Stunner

When it comes to good DIYs IKEA pretty much reigns king. It has some seriously cheap yet still decently put-together furniture and accessories that make upgrading and upcycling furniture super easy, especially when the DIYer is willing to go a bit outside of the box and think big.

Just check out what TikTok creator Kerry of KLK.Interiors did with a few IKEA serving bowls, a bamboo armrest, and a plant pot as well as an old tabletop she scrapped straight from her backyard. It is enough to inspire anyone to go ahead and head out to IKEA.

There’s something incredibly satisfying about piecing together a few pieces that couldn't be more different and turning them into something fabulous. Kerry starts with an old garden tabletop that's seen better days out in her backyard. Instead of just chucking it she has held on to it for a project just like this one.

The goal here is to cut it down to size and, with a few nails, some string, and a pencil she creates an oval template which is then cut out with a jigsaw. Once the cutting is done, she sands everything down so that the top looks a little bit cleaner and the sides are a little (okay a lot) smoother. After all, no one wants to knock into the coffee table and get splinters in their knees.

Now that the table top is prepped it's time to focus on the legs. Kerry grabs a Nypon plant pot and a Rodeby bamboo armrest , which are pretty cheap on their own. I can't imagine too many people look at these two things and think 'ah, yes, table leg' but hey, the whole idea of this project is to think outside the box. The plant pot gets a generous coat of glue before Kerry wraps the bamboo armrest around it. Voilà! A fluted leg is born.

For the second leg, Kerry grabs three Blanda Matt serving bowls which almost perfectly match the other leg in height once all three are stacked on top of each other. She screws one open side down at the bottom of the table and stacks two more on top, creating a triple-layer leg to go opposite the fluted pillar leg.

With both legs completed, Kerry attaches them to opposite ends of the table, and just like that, she has created a masterpiece that could easily sell for thousands at a high-end store. I can't help but be in love, especially with that super low price tag!
