WWE is always looking for new talents who could potentially become main roster stars, and somewhat controversially, it will sometimes prioritize hiring legitimate athletes with no experience rather than indie performers. However, it makes perfect sense in this instance, as PWInsider.com has reported that Elijah Holyfield, the son of former boxing world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield and a former football player, will be receding tryouts over SummerSlam weekend.

“PWInsider.com is told that Elijah Holyfield, the son of legendary Boxer Evander Holyfield, is set for the WWE Summerslam weekend in Cleveland as part of the company’s tryouts.”

26-year-old Holyfield played football at the University of Georgia as a running back and would forgo his senior year to join the NFL. This would see him signed by the Carolina Panthers in 2019 as an undrafted free agent and become part of the practice squad. From there, he would join the Philadelphia Eagles and then the Cincinnati Bengals, although his career would be hampered due to a severe knee injury.
