Vice President Kamala Harris is proving a much more formidable candidate against Donald Trump than President Joe Biden among young voters, according to a new poll from Axios.

Data from Axios/Generation lab posted Thursday showed Harris polling with a massive 20 point lead over Trump among voters aged 18-34. The poll carries a margin of error of 3.5%, which wouldn’t have all that much effect on the Harris lead.

Harris scored 60% against Trump’s 40% when voters were given the option between the two today. Asked the same question about Biden and Trump and that gap lowers to just 6%, with Biden scoring 53% and Trump getting 47%. Biden already announced he’s stepped down from his reelection campaign, and Harris has secured the needed delegates to move to the top of the ticket.

The youth poll is the latest good news for the Harris campaign, which has seen the passing of the torch from president to vice president spark a wave of donations and endorsements. This of course followed Biden facing growing concerns within his own party amid questions about his stamina and age.

Another solid statistic from the Axios poll for Harris is that 45% of young voters said they have an extremely or somewhat favorable view of the vice president. Both Biden and Trump scored lower in this area, with the former getting 33% and the latter earning 34%.

On the unfavorable side, 43% said they have a somewhat or extremely unfavorable view of Harris, while 61% said the same about Trump and Biden.

The poll also asked opinions about a vice presidential candidate for Harris. While most were unsure, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg scored the highest with 14% and 13%, respectively.

The Axios survey was conducted nationwide among more than 800 voters between 18-34 between July 22-24.
