AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — Texas families have until July 31 to enroll their newborns or children younger than 1 year of age at the time of enrollment for the 2023-2024 prices in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund, the state’s prepaid college tuition plan.

“It is never too early for Texas families to consider enrolling their newborns in this plan,” said Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar. “Purchasing tuition units today allows families to lay the foundation for their children’s future educational opportunities.”

According to officials with the comptroller’s office, participants in the Texas Tuition Promise Fund can purchase tuition units and lock in the costs of undergraduate resident tuition and schoolwide required fees at Texas public colleges and universities, excluding medical and dental schools, based on today’s prices.

Officials noted that the plan can be used at Texas medical and dental schools, Texas private colleges and universities, out-of-state colleges and universities, career schools, and registered apprenticeship programs for additional flexibility and where tuition is not locked in, and the benefits and payouts would be based on the Transfer Value.

Newborn enrollment is open through July 31, according to officials, while general enrollment at 2023-2024 prices closed on Feb. 29 and will not reopen until Sept. 1 with new contract prices based on Texas public college undergraduate resident tuition and schoolwide required fees costs for the 2024-2025 school year.

Those who wish to view complete plan information, including the Plan Description and Master Agreement, current sales prices, enrollment forms and more can on the Tuition Promise website or by calling 800-445-GRAD (4723), option 5.

Officials also stated that the plan’s outreach team offers free webinars that provide an overview of the plan and the different tuition unit types and payment options as well as information about the Texas Match the Promise Foundation matching scholarship opportunities.
