LEGO Super Mario World & Yoshi Has Been Revealed

Today, a new report has surfaced, bringing an in-box SNES title to the LEGO world. Introducing LEGO Super Mario World & Yoshi , an ode to 1990s 16-bit titles in brick form.

Unlike the original LEGO Mario releases (which featured Yoshi as well), LEGO has decided to go retro and convert 16-bit pixel graphics to a counter-sized LEGO Super Mario World & Yoshi in honour of the 1990 classic platformer boxed-in with the Super Nintendo Entertainment System. Jay’s Brick Blog confirmed the existence of the set by checking the official Singaporean LEGO site, but it has sadly now been deleted. Interestingly enough, VGC reports that San Diego Comic-Con goers found evidence of the set at the LEGO booth, and below is a leaked image of the set.

Set images of LEGO Super Mario World & Yoshi have been making the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), and that’s where the above image comes from. LEGO opted out of making a playset of this release (unlike the Legend of Zelda Great Deku Tree launch) and made the complete build a moving display piece. A side crank on the set’s base can make LEGO Super Mario World & Yoshi move their legs, as seen when Yoshi walks in the video game. Unfortunately, you can’t allow Mario to jump off Yoshi to make an otherwise impossible jump this time.

The set has been revealed to have 1215 pieces, and Model #71438 has been given (for those who want to snag a pre-order as soon as possible). While no official announcement from LEGO has been made, fans should note that the set may appear differently than the image provided. It’s also possible Nintendo and LEGO revise their release schedule and move the new set out of October. That is the alleged current plan from LEGO Super Mario World & Yoshi. Before any decisions are made, however, fans should wait for LEGO/Nintendo’s formal announcement before anything else.
