Paramore's Hayley Williams is not here for stan warfare: 'I just think everyone should cool it'

As competition heats up on the music charts, Paramore 's Hayley Williams is reminding fans to keep the focus off the numbers and on what matters most — the music.

Williams took to social media this week to share her frustration with the rise of stan culture bluntly calling it, “really f***ing annoying.”

“Something I’ve been thinking about a lot… especially in the music world… people only give a f*** about numbers now, and stats. And that is so lame,” she expressed in a video message. “I just think it’s really f***ing annoying.”

She continued, “My side of the internet, which is basically not really the internet, I just get to support all the Pop girls. Maybe that’s a privilege because I’m not a Pop girl, but I just think everyone should cool it and let people make really great music and s***… I’m over it.”

Clearly fed up with the warfare, Williams did take some time to express the other side of the fence admitting that numbers can be an exciting way to measure success, but again, shouldn’t be the main focus. “We’ve had a No. 1 album and top this and that albums, yes… that shit is great, but overall, commercial success shouldn’t take precedence over simply enjoying music,” she said. “I just remember a time when that was not so important, and that also wasn’t a gotcha for a stan-war type of situation.”
