Kelly Ripa Admits To “Inappropriate” Backstage Interaction With Mark Consuelos On ‘Live’: “If We Weren’t Married, I Would Probably Be Fired Right Now”

This morning’s Live with Kelly and Mark got real frisky real fast.

Kelly Ripa kicked off Thursday’s episode by teasing some “inappropriate” backstage behavior of hers with her husband and co-host, Mark Consuelos .

“I gotta tell you something,” she confessed. “I did something backstage to Mark that was so inappropriate that if we weren’t married, I would probably be fired right now. But I have to explain myself.”

She told viewers that she “started at the top,” touching his shoulder.

“I was like, ‘I really love this shirt,'” she recalled. “‘I think it’s gorgeous on you.’ And he goes, ‘Oh, thank you.’ And he goes, ‘Feel these pants. These pants are really comfy.'”

Ripa said that she proceeded to feel his pants, noting that they felt “nice.”

“But I was like, ‘My gosh! Your thighs feel like they are made out of, like, metal. Or like, stone, or marble. Like, carved out of marble,'” she shared, reenacting the moment. “I’m backstage, and I’m rubbing up and down his thighs. And I was like, ‘It doesn’t even seem possible!’ And then I realized, people are looking at us like, ‘Are you OK? Do you forget that you are in a place of business?’ And yes is the answer.”

Consuelos quipped that he “may or may not file a grievance.”

“A report,” he clarified.

Ripa claimed she wouldn’t blame him if he did, reiterating that “it’s so inappropriate,” although Consuelos assured her that “it was fine.”

“But congratulations on your thighs,” Ripa added.

After Consuelos conceded that it “got a little handsy,” Ripa was reminded of a similar instance that took place around when they “first met.”

“We went to Robin Mattson’s house, she was having a cocktail party. A lot of the cast of All my Children ,” she remembered. “Anyway, you were sitting on the sofa, and I was sitting on the coffee table in front of you. And I went to get up… and I pushed off of you to get up. And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, is that your leg?’ Because I never felt your leg.”

Consuelos joked that he “flex[es] at the right moment” when Ripa grabs his leg.

“No, I played soccer for many years,” he explained as Ripa replied, “Yeah, but that was many years ago! I mean, my gosh! You’ve really… wow.”

She ultimately concluded, “I thought you should be all aware of what happened here backstage.”
