Wisconsin DNR offers $25 rebate on endangered resources license plates

MADISON, Wis. -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources announced Thursday it will offer a $25 rebate on endangered resources license plates.

To celebrate 30 years of offering the plates, the DNR said it will offer the discount for new purchases now through Dec. 31, 2024. Sales of endangered resources license plates have played a critical role in funding DNR conservation work for more than 700 plant and animal species listed as endangered, threatened, or special concern.

The DNR said funds from the plates will go toward the creation and upkeep of Wisconsin's State Natural Areas, preserving native ecosystems and special geologic features. The plates allow residents to display their support for rare species and unique places in Wisconsin.

The DNR said the rebate is available for both people who buy new endangered resource license plates and current plateholders who switch from one plate design to another. Residents can buy a license plate at any time, and there is no need to wait for registration renewal.

To buy a new plate, visit the Endangered Resources license plate website to download and complete the DNR rebate form and license plate application form. Rebate checks may take up to six weeks to be processed.
