Burton, a member of Metallica from 1982, was featured on the classic albums Kill ‘Em All , Ride the Lightning , and Master of Puppets , passed in 1986 in a tragic bus accident while in Sweden on the band's Damage Inc. tour.

The first of four drops to be revealed in Metallica’s Burton exhibit is available to view now via the band’s Black Box museum on their official website. Just sign up to be part of the Fifth Member fan club for free to get started.

The band explains , “Though Cliff’s time with Metallica was brief, his impact and influence remain monumental through his music, our memories, and stories. To celebrate our brother, we’ve dipped into our vault to share pieces of him that we’ve hung onto all these years. And because the ‘Metallica Cliff’ is just one side of him, we’ve recruited his friends, peers, and fans to join us in telling his story. We’d like to extend a massive thank you to the Burton family for sharing memories that go as far back as Cliff’s childhood. The first of four releases in this exhibit, today’s drop contains everything from old photos and personal letters to new exclusive video interviews. So dig in and take your time with this content — there will be more where that came from! Come back on August 13 to check out the next release.”

Metallica recently wrapped up their European dates in support of their 11th studio album, 2023's 72 Seasons , and will be making their way back to North America and Mexico for a second leg of dates through August and September. Grab your tickets HERE .
