Donald Trump Jr, along with other MAGA influencers, ripped into Newsweek on Thursday over an article covering FBI Director Christopher Wray’s Wednesday testimony on Capitol Hill. Wray testified before the House that he did not know yet conclusively whether or not Donald Trump’s ear was grazed by a bullet or shrapnel during the assassination attempt on the former president earlier in the month.

Wray’s remarks led to Newsweek running a report initially titled, “Donald Trump Might Not Have Been Shot After All.” Following the fierce backlash, the eye-brow-raising headline was later changed to read, “Donald Trump May Not Have Been Hit By Bullet, FBI Director Says.”.

Wray’s comments were widely covered with other outlets like the Daily Beast framing them this way: “FBI Is Not Fully Convinced Trump Was Struck by a Bullet.” Wray made clear during his testimony that the FBI is working tirelessly to investigate exactly what happened during the shooting, but refused to offer any concrete conclusions at this time.

Trump Jr shared a screenshot of Newsweek’s initial framing and wrote, “This is really covering some ground, but @Newsweek might be the most embarrassing “news organization” in the entire country. They constantly publish BS, but this is next level Trump derangement. They should be ashamed of themselves!!!”

Controversial MAGA influencer Charlie Kirk also slammed the original headline and article, writing :

    According to the media:
Kamala was NOT the Border Czar.
Kamala was NOT the most liberal U.S. Senator.
Kamala did NOT promote defund the police.
Kamala did NOT say 18-24 year-olds were dumb.
And Donald Trump never got shot.
You don’t hate these people enough.

NBC News’s Ryan Nobles weighed in on Wray’s remarks, which he quoted, “I think with respect to former President Trump there’s some question about whether or not it’s a bullet or shrapnel that you know hit his ear.” Noble then noted, “Trump has not released medical records from after the shooting.”
