Obviously spoilers are ahead for Deadpool & Wolverine. Don’t @ me.

If there’s one thing you can be sure of when you go to see a Marvel movie—really any action movie these days—it’s the presence of a post-credits scene and Deadpool & Wolverine is no exception. The third film in the Deadpool franchise hit cinemas on July 26, 2024, but the hype began well and truly before then.

The MCU has a rich history of post-credits scenes, ranging from teasers for future films to entertaining silliness. As of Echo (2024), there have been more than 81 post-credits scenes across 45 properties, including films, short films, television series , animated shorts, and television specials.

If you’re seeing a Marvel film in the theater, there’s no question you’re hanging around until the end when the lights come on. Post-credits scenes are perhaps the most anticipated part of any Marvel movie—in fact, in 2021’s Eternals , one journalist spoiled the fact that Harry Styles makes a cameo appearance and faced the wrath of fans online for ruining the moment. With its latest installment, here’s everything you need to know about the Deadpool & Wolverine post-credits scene. Spoilers ahead!

How many post-credit scenes are there?

There’s one post-credits scene in Deadpool & Wolverine and it happens right at the end. However, there are other tributes to 20th Century Fox (Marvel’s former owner) throughout the mid-credits set to Green Day’s classic song Good Riddance (Time of Your Life) .

To explain the context of the post-credits scene: earlier in the film, Deadpool tells villain Cassandra Nova ( Emma Corrin ) that Johnny Storm ( Chris Evans ) has been talking shit about her, including how he’d rather die by her hands than work for her.

We’re led to believe Deadpool made it all up, that Johnny didn’t say all of those things, so when Nova kills Johnny, the audience is supposed to be shocked because we think he died in vain. Come to the post-credits, Deadpool addresses the audience, explaining that he didn’t want us to think he was responsible for Johnny’s death.

We’re shown footage wherein Johnny says, verbatim, what Deadpool said he did, including that Cassandra can “lick my god damn cinnamon ring clean,” says Evans. “I won’t be happy until I’ve urinated on her freshly-barbecued corpse.” LOL

Deadpool & Wolverine is in theaters now.
