Cutting grass can be a daunting albeit necessary task — whether you’re someone who actually enjoys it or sorely dreads it. No matter which side of the yard you fall on preference-wise, the task can require a lot of elbow grease — often putting strain on the back, neck, legs and even feet. If you add heat to the equation, it’s pretty understandable why some let their grass grow longer than an HOA might prefer.

Thankfully, per reviewers, there’s a back-saving lawn mower that takes some labor out of completing this chore: The cordless, self-propelling Ego Power+ LM2102SP-A lawn mower — a 3-in-1 design that cuts all grass types, plus it also mulches and discharges the clippings into a container at the press of a button! It’s over $100 off today and the lowest price tag of the year, even beating its Prime Day discount — but we doubt this deal will last all that long.

The lawn mower self-propels at varying speeds ranging from 1.3 to 3.1 miles per hour that you can control with a simple lever — lessening a lot of the work you would put into pushing. “I have a couple of hills that are getter harder to mow as I age. This self-propelled electric mower meets my needs,” writes reviewer Tennessee Phil . “I like the fact you can use the self-propelled feature with the mower blades off to save energy and also if you are done mowing to get it back to the house.”

The gas-free, cordless design can run for 65 minutes on a single charge, although several reviewers note it works so well, it takes them 30 to 45 minutes to complete their yard. The lawn mower also comes with two batteries to help you stretch the time if you need to. “The great thing about the two batteries is that you can mow a field of any size,” reviewer John W. shared. “When one battery runs out, you put it on the charger and put the second battery in the mower.”

You’ll also get six height adjustments to cut at varying grass levels. When you’re done, you can just fold it in half for compact storage so there’s nothing bulky claiming extra floor space in your garage or shed.

“After having returned a different brand’s self propelled mower that proved to be too difficult for us seniors to use, my husband and I took a chance and ordered this more expensive but highly rated EGO LM2102SP-A. And are we GLAD that we did! Though the glowing description and reviews had seemed to be hype, every word of praise for this perfectly designed self propelled mower has turned out to be true for us! My husband and I are in our 70’s and we have had NO problems whatsoever with any aspect of this great machine. It’s far and away the best lawn mower we have ever owned — and we have owned many mowers over the years, including other battery powered self propelled models, plus riding mowers, gas mowers and even electric mowers that had cords attached. This EGO is by far the easiest for both of us to use and it does a great job! The adjustments of cutting height and speed for the self propelled feature are amazingly easy. Performance has been superb, even on our very tough southern St. Augustine lawns. Mulching has been great, with no piles of residue left behind. One battery can easily handle our entire quarter acre lot and the batteries recharge very quickly. The mower is not too heavy or cumbersome for me to handle on my own. Set up is very quick and intuitive. Safety features are excellent and easy to use... ” — Dakwriter [Note: This review has been condensed for length. Read here for the full review.]

“I could rant and rave about this mower all day. The quality is amazing! As a single woman, I decided to fire my lawn guy and maintain my own lawn in March. I had no idea what I was doing a few months ago but now my yard is the best looking lawn in the neighborhood! I get compliments all the time of how nice my grass looks. I can attribute some of this to my Ego lawn mower. The self propelled feature is awesome! I tend to bag my yard and the ease of attaching and removing the bag is very easy. The mulching attachment is easy as well once I got the hang of it. Being able to fold it up is a game changer and space saver.
After I am done, I blow off my mower with my Ego blower and wash off the underside to prevent buildup. I can cut pretty much my entire property on one battery. The two batteries are a great option as well!
If you’re looking to let go of the gas, Ego is the way to go! I recommend this lawn mower to everyone.” — Topekia Garnett

“It has been a year since I bought my mower and I am loving it. It’s hassle free, no pull starting, gasoline or oil. I get about 45 to 50 minutes on a charge and when power runs out I simply pop the other battery in and off I go. The power is more than adequate and the cut I get is great. Adjust of the height is quick and easy. The speed of the self propel is fast with me usually running at about 3/4 speed. The handle folds down for easy storage. It has a bag, but I have never used it. I can truly say that I can not think of a negative for this mower. I have since bought the leaf blower and the good thing is it has the same battery so I now have 4 batteries and two chargers!” — T. Davenport

“If you are on the fence debating on this mower, BUY IT! This is so easy to use and has POWER. The thing seriously can go FAST if you put it on the highest speed. It cuts through tall grass easily. The only issue I had was with tall grass that was wet on the bottom - it kept shutting itself off due to the grass getting bunched up into it. My gas push mower would not have liked that either so I can’t complain. The batteries last awhile if grass is dry. They also charge super fast. Mower is not as quiet as I would’ve thought but it is quieter than gas. And the noise doesn’t bother me. If you have a gas mower and want to switch to electric, this mower is for you! It is so nice not to have to deal with gas and the mess and smell. Starts right up easily at the push of a button and also will self propel without the blade being on which is nice.” — Amazon customer
