The View welcomed dynamic duo Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman this morning, and the two of course did not disappoint. Reynolds — who was back on the show just weeks after making a surprise visit to the studio with his mom — doled out his signature charm while entertaining the co-hosts with stories about Deadpool & Wolverine .

But before he could promote his film, Whoopi Goldberg kicked off their chat by telling Reynolds, “It’s so nice to see you again,” and pointing to the spot in the audience where he had sat with his mother last month.

Reynolds told one lucky audience member, “You’re sitting right where Tammy friggin’ Reynolds sat. Just letting you know. No pressure.”

The actor then said his mom hadn’t had “that much fun” since 2008, “when she actually met Hugh Jackman, who kissed her on the cheek.”

Reynolds then cheekily added, “Six years later, my dad passed away of natural causes. Coincidence or conspiracy? We’re still trying to figure that out.”

Jackman, playing the straight man to his co-star, confirmed that Reynolds’ mom “is a massive Wolverine fan,” then gestured to the audience member seated where Tammy had been and told him, “So it’s good you’re wearing the Wolverine outfit,” referring to the guest’s yellow shirt.

Reynolds’ View appearance today came about a month after he stopped by the June 10 episode of the show, where he and his mom briefly interrupted a Hot Topics segment.

“You never know what’s going on here at The View ,” Goldberg said at the time. “Sometimes you look up and you’re like, ‘Oh, this is really great.’ Then you look over and you go, ‘Oh, snap! There’s Ryan Reynolds.’”

She then said, “This isn’t a thing that happens often, but it does happen on occasion. What’re you — how come?” as Reynolds replied from the audience, “OK, alright. By the way, this is way less stressful than up there.”

He then explained, “My mom is here visiting her grandkids and yesterday she said, ‘It’s my dream to go to The View .’ First off, I try to do what she says because you don’t know what she’s capable of. Unspeakable violence. My whole life. I didn’t want to taste the back of her hand, so I said, ‘Let’s go to The View .’

“So we made a call. I told them, ‘I’m Blake [Lively’s] husband. I’d love to come to The View . Does that get us a little further?’” he continued. “And here we are.”

The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
